The Seductive Chef Climbs Up On Her Little Leafy Green Soapbox

At last! I have a forum in which to air my pet peeve of all time. It's  about “mint.”  Yeah, that green stuff they sell in grocery stores, and shows up in lots of recipes in the Spring and Summer.  And it's bad news, Dear Reader.  They've been holding back the truth. Just like Santa Claus, there is no such thing as “mint.”

There's Peppermint (that's what they sell in stores) and there's Spearmint (that's what you have to grow in your own back yard, or on a sunny kitchen windowsill, cause mostly you can't buy it.) And if you think about the taste of peppermint gum, and spearmint gum you'll know exactly what I mean. There's a huge difference, right? So now…go to your local nursery and buy two or three cute little baby spearmint plants, take 'em home and put them in a nice big flower pot. Otherwise you'll end up with an entire yard of spearmint and eventually it'll even take over the whole neighborhood. Don't say I didn't warn you.
